French bread!

Here's my first attempt at French bread. Looks pretty de-lish if I do say so myself! Can't wait to cut into it..... about 10 seconds after I post this!

HA! Who am I kidding??!

Yep. Easier said than done.
I'm a carnivore. I think that's one of the reasons God gave me teeth. So last week I was on my "I'm-going-to-be-a-vegetarian" kick. Then I realized that I eat meat, and want to eat meat. Actually, I'm not a red meat eater. I will never eat a steak. It's just too gross. I'd rather not eat a hamburger, but I'll have a slab of prime rib. Yum-yum! I don't really want to eat a roast in the crockpot, but I will just because I can throw it in the crockpot and it's magically cooked when I get home from work! I'll eat a boneless chicken breast and any type of fish without thinking twice. Any type of chicken with the bone in grosses me out.
Back to the topic at hand. I'm still going to eat much differently than I did before, even though I don't think I are that awful before. We always buy pork and beef from an aunt/uncle, so I know that it's not pumped full of hormones and that it eats grass in the pasture. In fact, I've fed the animals that are feeding me currently. It just doesn't seem right, but they sure taste good! I'm never going to buy meat from the grocery store, and that drives Mike crazy. He thinks I'm crazy and refuses to listen to anything I point out to him from a book I'm reading. He's soooooo stubborn. This causes fights-- big fights! So, I shut my mouth and buy things I'll eat and know that he won't touch, aka organic. I bought some organic cookies last weekend, and I've had them all week to munch on. He won't touch them because he doesn't believe in "natural" and "organic." He thinks it's all bogus. And, honestly, I do sometimes, too. There's a fine line. I'll grow my own veggies this summer, but I'll use some fertilizers. I don't have a problem with that. I personally think it's better than buying it in the grocery store.
I also vowed not to eat fast food again and be picky about which restaurants I eat at. Well, that flew out the door this morning after church. The Q Mandarin called to me as we drove by. I HAD to have Chinese, so I begged Mike to eat lunch there. I told him to never give in when I ask to stop somewhere to eat. I have no self control (can't you tell!?), so I need someone else to pretty much take care of me. He drove past as he was supposed to, but then gave in about a mile down the road. So, we turned around and I got my delicious Chinese food for lunch. Oh, so good!
I need to get one last thing in before I start baking a cheesecake. (Don't judge-- it's for a Super Bowl party). But, I need to plug freshly-squeezed  juice.  It's the best! It makes the house smell so de-lish! That's one thing I will stick with, at least until I get tired of spending a crapload of moola on fresh fruit and veggies twice a week.

I'm in love!

With Jello Shots!
I found this awesome blog about jello shots (the author calls them "jelly shots"), and now I must make them all! They all look AMAZING! I'm sooo excited to make them. Now I want to have a New Year's party just so I can make a bunch of different recipes of jelly shots.
Check it out: http://jelly-shot-test-kitchen.blogspot.com/
Look at the Flickr photos too, that'll sell you!
I've made jello shots many different times for Sylvester family parties, but never anything like this. I've only experimented with different liquors and jello flavors. And, they've only been in little plastic cups. Nothing like these molds. Of course, the molds she uses are $40 each. YIKES! Can't spend that amount of money on something for fun that I'll only use once or twice a year. Maybe I could if Mike doesn't find out....
:)
Make one of these recipes and let me know how it turns out. I'm definitely going to make some and post some pics.
Until then, Happy New Year and happy eating!
