Doggy love

Monday night when I got home from work, I gave a little credit to Haley.
Like usual, I walked in the door to a barking, talking, jumping, super-excited pooch. Now, this is nothing out of the ordinary for her. She gets soooo excited when she's away from Mike or I (even for an hour) and we come back. I wondered what goes through her head when we're away and why she get so happy that we're back.
I wonder what she does all day, too. I'd love to set a trail cam up and see what occupies her while we're gone at work. I think she might sleep alot because often I get home before Mike and I open the door and the dog doesn't hear because she's passed out on the floor of our bedroom. I wish I could be a fly on the wall some days, like when the FedEx man drops off a package. You know that he rings the door bell, and that sets the dog off on a barking rampage. How long does she bark? Or maybe she's given up on barking and knows exactly what's going on and that he just leaves the pacakge at the door. Maybe she doesn't bark at all, and only barks when we're around just to prove that she's a protective dog and she's doing her job.
Does she peruse the kitchen looking for scraps of food? We know that she LOVES butter because before we had a covered butter dish, she stole it off the kitchen counter at night. I often wondered what happened to the butter when I knew that I had taken out a fresh stick the night before. We busted the dog one night using the trail cam after about 5 mysterious disappearances!
She's a pretty spolied dog, and she goes everywhere with us. So, maybe she's showing some love by getting so excited when we come home. At any rate-- I love getting greeted by the dog and knowing that someone's really, really happy to have me home at the end of the day. Not that Mike's not, he's got a different way of showing it! He doesn't jump up and down, run in circles and talk to me with funny barks and growls!
